Thich Nhat Hanh,s simple analogy "No mud, no lotus" has a deeper meaning which is similar to the depth the roots of the flower reach up to. The world's most influential zen master explains how suffering paves the way to learning how to be understanding and compassionate. Just like a lotus can never be grown on a marble similarly without facing challenges personal growth and development can never be achieved.
Lotus is a mystery flower. Its lifecycle is very different from other plants. With its root penetrating deep into the mud, every night the plant submerges into the water and miraculously reblooms the next morning with its full glory. This little fact was enough to motivate me to choose this theme as my next #wearableart. Ria can be seen draped in a blue desi tussar silk with a Zari border on the edges. The body and the palla have been handpainted with Pichwai art depicting the lotus, its seeds, the stems, and the leaves. Every part is unique and this makes the flower hold an important place in different cultures of the world.
